Football Update:

Folks,
Due to an unstable budgeting situation within in our district, the possibility of my position being non-renewed, and my desire to further my academic career.  I have been applying for positions outside the district.  I have enjoyed working for school District #28 and would like to thank the members of the school board, Mr. Lewandowski, Mr. Sargent and Mr. Durglo for giving me the opportunity to educate the student-athletes here. As of yesterday, I have accepted the position of Head Football coach at Frenchtown High school on the contingency that I am hired as an educator there as well.  Frenchtown High School has a position available to teach Chemistry and I have applied.  The Frenchtown Superintendent has made it abundantly clear that I have been, in no way, guaranteed the position of Chemistry teacher but that my application will be reviewed to see if I am qualified.  If I do not gain employment within the Frenchtown school district, I will not be coaching there (its all or none).  I have not submitted my letter of resignation and may be teaching/coaching/facilitating/Activities Directing Mission next year.

My family and I love Mission, the people of St. Ignatius, and the Mission Valley.  My wife plans on continuing to teach within the school district (and as Mr. Durglo joked, "you can leave but not your wife!") and we plan to live here and have our son's attend Mission.  Thank you for your support and understanding of the situation that has presented itself to no-fault of anyone.

  Thank you for everything,

Bulldog football at Washington Grizzly stadium recap.

After watching the film it really looks like the game came down to field position and heat exhaustion.
We were fortunate enough to back them up on their first possession and force them to punt.  We returned the ball back inside the thirty to set up our first three yard rushing touchdown by Raymond Matt.  A successful PAT and the score was seven to nil.
On the ensuing kickoff, we recovered the loose ball inside the twenty, drove down to the one and punched it in with a qb sneak.  Our PAT went wide left and put us up 13 - 0.
At the end of the 1st quarter and beginning of the 2nd quarter Eureka scored on a couple of long passes which were set up by a pair of turnovers.  They went ahead 14 - 13.
In the second half, our players in the trenches on both sides of the ball played really hard and allowed us to move the ball on offense and put pressure on their qb as he dropped back.
Steven Bravo and Raymond Matt had a great day rushing the football and were able to get yards after contact on fantastic second effort.

Football vs Ronan - recap

Football lost a tough fought battle against Ronan in Ronan.  The Bulldogs scored first but were not able to keep the lead throughout the first half.  The chiefs played well on their final home game of the season and were able to run and pass against the Dawg defense.  The Dawgs worked hard in the second half and scored late but just did not have enough to get back in the game.  Congratulations to all members of the Football team for the 4-4 season.  I look forward to getting to work for the next season.  Thanks for the season seniors!

Mission versus Loyola recap

The solo bright spot on the day that ended in a 36 - 0 defeat was special teams.  The Loyola Rams had scored in every game on special teams except last Friday's. Also, the return of Nikko Alexander to long snapping duties increased the team's ability to defend a longer field.  Finally, the opening kickoff to Loyola ended in a forced fumble and fumble recovery by the Dawgs. The Dawgs look forward to going on the road to play Troy Friday night at 7:00 PM.

Mission versus Florence Football Recap

Friday night's game against a good Florence football team, ended with 44 - 20 loss.  The Falcons recovered two muffed punts within the Dawgs twenty yard line and scored on both possessions.  The second half saw the Bulldogs successfully move the ball and eventually score on two drives.  The game was a loss but the second half experience helped improve the team's overall football knowledge and experience.
